Again this year, Second Church has helped set up the Salvation Army Toy Store. This is the seventh year we have been involved in this form of service to our local community. Our volunteers unpacked the boxes of toys held over from last year and set them in categorized areas in the Toy Store by age and gender, where they can be seen by the folks selecting the presents for the children in the Salvation Army Christmas gifts program. The toys were selected for each child to fill a bag for them with the items on that child's Christmas wish list. That list was used to prepare the Angel Trees found around Staunton. There are roughy 350 children who will receive bags from the Toy Store. [...]
On Sunday November 5th the Gangloff Family became members of Second Church. This was a particularly special day as Emily and Alex completed Confirmation class and affirmed their faith, accepting their baptism as their own. Given the importance of their confirmation, some in the church came forward to lay hands on Emily & Alex, to pray for them and uphold them as they take this important step in their journey of faith.
