5OLAS

10/15/17 – 11/12/17

This year marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.  To commemorate this monumental anniversary, we are doing a series exploring the five key points of the Reformation, known as the “Solas,” from the Latin meaning, “only” or “alone.”

Scripture Alone

October 15, 2017

In light of the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, we are examining the five solas. The first is Sola Scriptura, or Scripture Alone.  This doctrine means that we are unable to say anything about God that is not affirmed by Scripture, since it is through Scripture that God has chosen to reveal truths about his nature.

Faith Alone

October 22, 2017

What is more important – faith or works? Is faith alone actually enough to save us, or do we need to do something in order for God to love us? Watch Pastor Evan’s take on that question, as we study the second “sola” in our 5OLAS series, “Faith Alone.”

Grace Alone

October 29, 2017

How is a person able to be saved? This question, which drove much of the spirit of the Protestant Reformation, is the focus of Pastor Evan’s message on the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. In the third part of the 5OLAS series, we learn that a person is able to be saved by grace alone.

Christ Alone

November 5, 2017

As we continue the series 5OLAS, Pastor Evan discusses perhaps the most controversial one of the lot: salvation in Christ alone. Going all the way back to the garden of Eden, Pastor Evan explains God’s salvific plan, as seen throughout history, culminating in Christ’s atoning sacrifice for humanity.

For the Glory of God Alone

November 12, 2017

Scripture frequently speaks of the “glory of God,” but what exactly does the term mean, and how are people called to give God glory? Concluding the 5OLAS series, Pastor Evan discusses the great idea of the Reformation that all things are done for the glory of God alone.
