Martha's Meals on Wheels Annual Fundraiser Flyer
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to send out a huge thank you to all those who donated school supplies this year. Even in the midst of a pandemic, your generosity and eagerness to help those in need is truly amazing. Bags started showing up in the Parlor almost immediately following our request. And to those who sent in a monetary donation, please know that Sue Gochenour and I went out to the stores and spent your money wisely. Thanks to your support, we carried 24 bulging bags of supplies (304 individual items) to the Salvation Army, and they were so grateful. Families will be going into the Salvation Army on July 31st to pick up school supplies, [...]
Hi Second Church Family, So I know the question on all of your minds. It’s the thing I’ve had so many conversations, both over the phone and e-mail, with you about, and so just let me say, straight out, yes. Yes, I can show you some pictures of Evie. The other thing that you might be wondering is when we will resume worship together at our church campus on Sunday mornings. I know there are other churches that are meeting already, but ours will not be one of them for the foreseeable future. At the May session meeting, held over Zoom, the elders and I spoke at length about our desire [...]
Greetings congregation, There has been much discussion about the best way to be faithful to the gospel in the midst of this coronavirus scare. Some have decried the responses as panicked and overblown, saying we should show others how not to be afraid, and how to have faith, by continuing with life as normal. Others have stocked up on toilet paper, of all things, and filled their pantries with every imaginable item, as if hunkering down for the winter. Perhaps the best solution is somewhere in the middle. Either way, where does that leave us as a church body? I am always hesitant to cancel our services on Sunday, and this is no different; if anything, I’ve been even [...]
This year Ash Wednesday is February 26th. Second Church will observe this holy beginning to the season of Lent with a fellowship meal at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall, followed by the imposition of ashes at 6:45 p.m. Please come join us for this spiritually meaningful time.
You love your dog. We love your dog. Even better, God loves your dog. God has given us our pets as helpers, companions, and to make our lives richer. And amazingly, God even uses our pets to teach us things about God. On Sunday, February 23rd at 4 p.m., Second Church is hosting our monthly alternative worship service that we like to call "Dog Church." We want to provide this service to our community, and we want to create a place where dog lovers can meet one another and maybe even form our own community. So come on out, meet some great people, and let's celebrate God's creation together!
On Sunday, February 9th, Second Church was pleased to welcome five new members to our fellowship. All have been attending for several months and expressed a desire to become members, in order to be more invested in the life of Second Church. Pastor Evan cracking a joke with the new members Jim and Cathy McKenna, with their beautiful daughter Adeline Jerry & Kayla Siford Amanda Harris - a trained Stephen's Minister, who looks forward to bringing these gifts to serve Second Church.
On Sunday February 16th Second Church will hold a meeting of the congregation after worship for the purpose of reviewing the 2019 Annual Report, as well as having a time of questions and answers about the state of the church. All who are able are encouraged to stay after worship for the meeting.
Second Church is collecting money for Church World Service's Blanket Fund, so that we can, as they say, "Blanket the World with Love!" This is an annual fundraiser at Second Church because we believe in the mission of Church World Service and the aid we are able to practically give through this fund. Please watch the video in order to find out more.
