The Rev. Patrick Pettit

Rev. Pettit was born in Pittsburgh PA, and while his father’s career took the family to Kentucky, Georgia and Texas, western Pennsylvania has always been home. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Dallas, and his Master of Divinity from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where met and married his wife, Ann, who is a chaplain at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, VA. He has been a member of Shenandoah Presbytery since 2001, and has undertaken various roles in the presbytery, including Committee on Ministry Chair, and Presbytery Associate for Transition and Pastoral Care. In addition to serving churches in Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia, Patrick has been a stay-at-home dad, bartender, kitchen manager, and hotel concierge; study hall monitor, silkscreen printer for Champion Products, freelance writer, and bass player. He and Ann had three children: their son, Connall, died in 2022 at the age of 31; their daughter Mairéad (33) works for a tech company in Austin TX, and their daughter Brigid (32) is Executive Director of the St. Margaret Foundation in Pittsburgh, PA; she and her husband are expecting a daughter in August. Ann and Patrick live in Grottoes, (home of Grand Caverns) where they look after Gretel the big dog and Leah the little dog, while twin cats Robert and Edgar look after themselves.
