The Reverend Doctor Evan R. Smith, Pastor
Evan describes himself as a bit of a “denominational mutt,” having attended Episcopal, Lutheran, Baptist, and even Pentecostal churches before finding his home in the PC(USA). Discovering the Reformed Tradition was, in his own words, “Like turning on the lights to discover that I’d been home all along and hadn’t realized it.” Evan loves theology, Biblical studies, and pop culture, as comes through in his messages that are interesting, funny, and relevant.
Evan earned a Bachelor of Science from Hampden-Sydney College, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Masters in Church Management from the Villanova School of Business, and a Doctor of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in the field of Reformed Christian Spirituality with an emphasis on practical means to aid in spiritual growth. His thesis studied the Enneagram and Spiritual Disciplines, seeking to answer the question, “Can the Enneagram be used as a tool to predict which spiritual disciplines best aid a congregant’s sanctification?”
Evan and his wife Maria have three sons, Judah, Micah, and Asher, and a daughter named Evangeline.
Evan comes to us having served churches in McConnellsburg, PA; Edison, NJ; and Mooresville, NC.
